Oh, Brother...Or make that Oh, Brethren

No deep thoughts today. Just a growing frustration that may turn itself into a valid blog post at some point in my life.

Sigh....Baptists. (I'm rolling my eyes. Can you tell?)

Oh, to be sitting across the table from you, sipping some juice, having this conversation. You have my attention.

Kathy there is a book in our church library that you should read. It is called "Bible Wines: or Laws of Fermentation and Wines of the Ancients." It is a very good study on what the Bible meant when it spoke of "wine."

if it's in OUR church library...i'm not so sure about it. ;)

i did a little (very little) research today about the hebrew and greek words for wine in the Bible. the article i read pointed out that the same words are used for the wine that everyone was drinking (last supper, Jesus' miracles, even way back to abram) and in the verses about warning against drunkenness. if it was all just "grape juice", then we wouldn't need warnings about drunkenness.

just thought that was interesting. and it has absolutely nothing to do with my current frustrations.

I don't propose for it to answer any frustrations. It was a book written in about 1871 and is just rather interesting. Especially for someone like me. The discussion has been glossed over for most my life so a scientific, textual, contextual explanation was rather welcome. And the date of writing just makes it interesting.
